Never mind spying Omega understands that Bond is all about theatre, about grand gestures and small details. ![]() The message was clear: James Bond's watch does not travel second class. When Omega sent the Seamaster 300 Master Co-axial Chronometer that Daniel Craig will wear in next month's SPECTRE, it came in its full presentation box, complete with three-digit combination lock (no prizes for guessing what the code was), Omega-logo push-button clasp and a fair amount of what can only be described as "new car smell". If you doubt this at all, consider this: most watches that are delivered to QP Towers for us to pore over, photograph and review, come in pretty mundane plastic and polystyrene packaging - even the six-figure ones. ![]() So, what's new in v19.0 (see 'what's new' for more)? Gets better with each new release - if you're serious about running Windows apps on your Mac, Parallels Desktop is the tool you need. ![]() VMs have always been a drain on system resources, and while you can't expect to enjoy the same level of performance from one, Parallels Desktop takes steps to close the performance gap further, promising faster loading times for documents, reduced memory usage and even better power usage (save up to 30% on battery life).Īlthough a little pricey - the cost of Parallels is more than a copy of Windows - if you're serious about emulating Windows or Windows apps on your Mac, or want access to older versions of OS X for compatibility purposes, it's the go-to virtualisation app you need. Setting up your VM is straightforward with simple wizards and intelligent presets (such as your regional settings coming from your Mac) speeding things up further. It works well for those who aren't interested in anything than getting certain apps to run on their Mac. ![]() Over the years Parallels has evolved its feature set to make running Windows apps on your Mac as seamless as possible - you can set up your VM in Coherence mode for example where the Windows desktop is hidden away and your applications run directly from your Mac desktop in their own window, with key Windows tools such as the Start menu accessible from the menu bar. You can set up as many virtual machines as you want - your only limit is available disk space, the system requirements of your chosen VM and whether or not you have valid install media (and product key). Parallels enables you to emulate just about any flavour of Windows as well as older builds of OS X and even Linux too. You can even manage it without paying a single penny thanks to VirtualBox, but the truth is, if you're serious about running Windows apps on your Mac, then Parallels Desktop is the tool to choose. These days, running Windows on your Mac is pretty straightforward thanks to virtualisation software. ![]() Yes, it's amazing what is possible when you configure it properly. The folders shown seem to aggregate the content somehow (I'm no expert as I said - but it works!) - but you can't copy direct into them. Once I'd uploaded some music to the 'Multimedia' folder (now mapped), it appears in the 'Music' folder of the NAS in file explorer. My suspicion about the NAS being seen as a media server in file explorer seemed to prove correct. You can then use Qfinder to map the drives (works fine) and you should be good to go. Click apply and voila - all working fine. Login via the GUI, go to 'Network Services', then 'Win, Mac, NFS' and click the radio box for 'Enable file service for Microsoft networking' then complete the workgroup name (to match your local Workgroup of course). >Edited to add - problem fixed! Whilst I'm no IT expert, after sifting through the GUI options I realised that the default setup doesn't apply the Windows Networking. So at the moment, it's an expensive ornament! I also have a laptop running WIndows 7 with the same results? Have tried with Firewall and Windows Defender disabled to no avail. Contrary to what's put above, it still asks you for admin username and password when you access the NAS GUI. It just shows a symbol like you'd get for no write access.Īs Ryan, I created a user on the NAS with the same Windows 8 username and password as I use to start the PC. I can access it via file explorer and see the shared folders (Music, Photos, Video), but cannot copy to any of them (drag and drop using another file explorer pane). In File Explorer I can see the NAS, listed under 'Network Locations' - interestingly it seems to see it as some sort of media server. I can access the NAS fine with Qfinder (4.1.0) - but cannot map drives/folder with it with using 'Connect/Storage plug and connet' or 'Tools/Map network drive'. The NAS, having just been setup, is running Firmware version 4.0.5. I'm trying to setup a TS-212P for a new PC (just to complicate things further). I simply setup that my media players so that they log into the NAS as "xbmc", so that they can access my Multimedia "share" and access all my Movies, TV Shows, Music, Photos (that the "xbmc" user has access to). If your username and password pairs match, it won't even prompt for credientials at all, it will simply connect.įor my XBMC Mediacenter devices, I simply created a user on the NAS callled "xbmc". I have tried the following:Ĭreate a user on the NAS with the exact same username/password pair as your Windows machine. I have been forum hopping for the last 6hrs without any success. My blu-ray can access the qnap share using the account credentials I created on the NAS. I am using local authentication, no domain, no ldap. I have tried with the default shares (multimedia, Public) and ones I created manually. I am not able to access any share on the QNAP NAS. I have upgraded to the latest firmware this morning. I just purchased and hooked up the TS-212P a few days ago. Ryancharles wrote:I am hoping someone can help because I am pulling my hair out. When you set up your account, Enpass creates a primary encrypted vault for password storage. Enpass supports importing logins, credit cards, and secure notes. You can export from the old guard to a CSV file, format it to the file layout Enpass uses, and then import it. If your old password manager isn't on the list, never fear. It can also import from Chrome and other instances of Enpass. Fortunately, Enpass can import from over a dozen competitors, among them LastPass, RoboForm Everywhere, and Dashlane. Therefore, switching from one password manager to another needs to be as seamless as possible. Getting all your passwords into a password manager is a significant investment of time. The way this works is that Enpass sends the first five characters of your encrypted passwords to to see if your data showed up in a breach list. You can also choose whether Enpass should check for compromised passwords from the setup screen. ![]() They're not getting out the door to work or getting dinner on the table for their kids or they're not able to, say, listen to music because it's just too upsetting. ![]() And what we are seeing,, is that this person has not been able to function day to day the way that they wish that they could. When you're knocked over by that wave of grief, you want to know, "When will this end?" From a research perspective, there is a very small proportion of people who might have what we now call prolonged grief disorder, something we start looking for after six months or a year. So lots of different parts of the brain are orchestrating this experience that we have when we feel grief. Having said that, one of the things that we know is that grief is tied to all sorts of different brain functions we have, from being able to recall memories to taking the perspective of another person, to even things like regulating our heart rate and the experience of pain and suffering. The brain also feels that way, as it were, and codes the "we" as much as the "you" and the "I." So when people say "I feel like I've lost part of myself," that is for a good reason. The "we" is as important as the "you" and "me," and the brain, interestingly, really does encode it that way. And so when the other person is gone, we suddenly have to learn a totally new set of rules to operate in the world. The word sibling, the word spouse implies two people. When we have the experience of being in a relationship, the sense of who we are is bound up with that other person. O'Connor's upcoming book, The Grieving Brain, explores what scientists know about how our minds grapple with the loss of a loved one. "What we see in science is, if you have a grief experience and you have support so that you have a little bit of time to learn, and confidence from the people around you, that you will in fact adapt." It takes time - and involves changes in the brain. She says grieving is a form of learning - one that teaches us how to be in the world without someone we love in it. O'Connor, an associate professor of psychology at the University of Arizona, studies what happens in our brains when we experience grief. "Grief is a universal experience," she notes, "and when we can connect, it is better." Although these realizations are hard to face, clinical psychologist Mary-Frances O'Connor says we shouldn't avoid them or try to hide our feelings. Even small aspects of a birthday or a Christmas celebration - an empty seat at the dinner table, one less gift to buy or make - can serve as jarring reminders of how our lives have been forever changed. Holidays are never quite the same after someone we love dies. That can range from being able to recall memories to taking the perspective of another person, to even things like regulating our heart rate and the experience of pain and suffering. Grief is tied to all sorts of different brain functions, says researcher and author Mary-Frances O'Connor. ![]() This inner impetus, besides fear, is probably the most effective means we humans have to get things done, it actually has always been, from the beginning of time.
